Simi Valley shoegazers SHEER are back with their latest single "Room", their first since their debut album Uneasy last November. The captivating guitar line that runs throughout the song is enough on its own to make this a stand-out track in the band's discography. Gina Almaguer's vocals are as ethereal and lethargic as ever, a beautiful contrast with the relentless assault of guitars. "Room" is an excellent reminder that SHEER are one of the best modern shoegaze bands in the game.

Los Angeles collective All Scene Eye has taken over Saturdays at The Lost Knight, hosting free shows every weekend for the tired and thrifty of Echo Park.

Tonight fans of noise rejoice as gaze-y quartet Blood Candy blasts the British-styled pub with some sweet Dead Moon jams. The night opens with SHEER's heavy nostalgic hum mere days after the announcement of their debut LP Uneasy. The glorious rose petal flash of San Pedro's post-punk duo Band Aparte follows suit. And drugpop quintet Slow White ends the night with sonic opiates.

Simi Valley doomgazers SHEER return from the studio depths to announce the release of their debut LP Uneasy, and we couldn't be happier for them. The 11-song album has garnered comparisons to Galaxie 500 and The Smashing Pumpkins, of which we could say are somewhat accurate. The hooks are fuzzy, the feels are deep, and Gina Almaguer's voice resonates wildly in our hearts, though we'd rather compare her to Rachel Goswell over Billy Corgan. But don't take our word for it — SHEER are playing on October 23rd at Carla's Bakery (best Mexican food in Moorpark, no joke) with noisegasmic locals Sustains, Sea Lions, and Losing End.

Surf pop sinew meets Dinosaur Jr. soul in San Fernando Valley's newest alt-rock incarnation Grave School. Despite making a quiet entrance into the scene, this band has been in the works for a long time: singer/guitarist Gina Almaguer (Sheer) met drummer Aldo Felix (ACxDC, Human Garbage) online through mutual friends about two years ago.

"Grave School has technically been in the making since late 2013, when me and Aldo first started jamming — just the two of us."

Their busy schedules gave the project slow momentum, but patience has its virtues — Aldo and Gina also found able bodies from their circles: Daniel Castro (guitar/vox), Marisa Shirar (bass/vox), and Gilbert "Guzie" Guzman (Nomads, Sleepwalkers). Self-described as a pop-oriented, even cheesy, fun band, the vocals of Marisa, Daniel, and Gina (yes, they all sing) lifts listeners with '60s guitar jangle before burying them in six feet of dirtbox distortion. 

Grave School released their debut EP via Bandcamp earlier this month, and will play their first show at the Ventura Music Factory on September 17th, supporting Choir Vandals (St. Louis) with Papertowns.
