Crescendo to release sophomore LP Unless in February, free show at Acerogami 1/29

Dreampop darlings Crescendo are set for release of the sophomore album Unless, with plans for a national tour and performances at this year's SXSW. Led by flagship single "Repulsor", trio Gregory Cole, Olive Kimoto, and Jess Krichelle explore hyperspace romanticism, diving in and out of star clusters with celestial melodies and post-punk rhythms. The band drives up their momentum following last year's performances with diverse acts like PART TIME, Glasz, The Unending Thread, and Cruelty Code. Unless will release through Italian label We Were Never Being Boring on February 19th.

Crescendo plays a free show with Crown Plaza at Pomona’s Acerogami next Friday — Gabrielle Costa (DREAMWAVE) and Jim Smith (The Smell) switch up shoegaze, dreampop, and post-punk hits in-between sets. Listen to "Haunted", the second track off Crescendo's upcoming album Unless. - Ryan Mo

Stream Crescendo's newest single "Repulsor", SD and LA shows

Dreampop sophomores Crescendo dropped the first single to their upcoming album Unless, which Gregory Cole (guitar/vox) poetically described as "a lightspeed space journey through our world firing at everything in our path." Building from the vitalic rhythms of debut LP Lost Thoughts, "Repulsor" shimmers with new wave and synthpop stylings. The single's release also marks the official inauguration of guitarist Jess Krichelle, alongside Cole and Olive Kimoto (synth/vox). Unless is scheduled to release February 19th through Italian label We Were Never Being Boring.

Crescendo's due a couple of shows this month — they'll be playing with Florida homie Millionyoung and local heroes PART TIME. Check dates and venues below, and listen to the stream of "Repulsor". - Ryan Mo

Danger Collective goes full DIY with Runaway 2015 music festival

Last year, Danger Collective Records worked with Lost Dog to bring the DIY Insidelands to Los Globos with acts like Girlpool, Soma (now Celebrity Crush), Casinos, and Together Pangea.

It sold out.

This year, Dylan Thinnes, Mike Morin (&? Productions), Austin Feinstein, Franky Newby, and Reed Kanter (Danger Collective Records) join forces and go double-down with a new name, new venue (Jewels Catch One), and over double the bands.

From heavy hitters like Kool A.D. (of Das Racist) and No Age to LA mainstays like Dream Panther, Slow Hollows, Winter, Dirt Dress, Surf Curse, and Lovely Bad Things, the new Runaway 2015 won't just live up to the hyper of yesteryear; it'll set the standard for DIY fests all over Los Angeles. Runaway's roots run north in the San Fernando Valley, from the 17 year-old star promoter Dylan Thinnes, member of Slow Hollows and friend of Danger Collective Records.

About the presenter: Danger Collective Records is an independent DIY record label started by Reed Kanter and friends two years ago. The label's ever-growing lineup includes local notables like Casinos, Kid Cassidy, Nirvanus, Best Friend, Zipper Lips, Te Amo, and more. Danger Collective Records' résumé of events includes shows at The Smell, White Oak Music and Arts, Space Forty-Two, Almost Holden Collection, pehrspace, and more, making them one of the pillars of the Los Angeles underground.

Psychedelic Dreampop Band Deep Fields Playing Continental Room 4.28

The jangly, 60's psych magic of Orange County's rising sextet Deep Fields has been churning around Southern California venues as of late, and yes: it is definitely possible to fit a Rhodes piano, Juno synth, a drum set, and six warm bodies on a stage. Christian Peters, who also plays with psych-pop singer/songwriter Cotillon, started Deep Fields as a bedroom project but eventually found a handful of talented people through mutual circles. Influenced by psychedelic acts like The Zombies and MGMT, Deep Fields' music is a sonic fractal of catchy riffs and swirly textures. As of last year, the group has been hard at work writing new songs and lighting up clubs like Harvard and Stone, The Slidebar, Que Sera, and Los Globos. Check out the video for their first single "Salazar" below!

Deep Fields will be playing tomorrow at Fullerton's Continental Room with L.A. Takedown and PART TIME. 21+ / Free Admission - Ryan Mo
