Ejecta
Ejecta releases video for 'Silver', changes name, wears clothes

It's been an eventful, life changing couple of weeks for that constantly naked pixie of the Brooklyn music scene that is Ejecta. First the project announced a change of name due to a cease or desist threat received from a DJ called "Ejeca" (presumably this Irish act) - by the way, not sure how this dude can have such a request considering the two names are in fact different... maybe in Ireland "t"s are silent? Then they released a new video for single "Silver" under... the 'old' name Ejecta (?!? - apparently because they haven't picked a new name yet - their fans are helping them out). But what's truly shocking in a bizarrely reversed way, is that in the video (Minute 1:08) we get to see for the first time lead singer Leanne Macomber WITH some clothes on!!! Although we've been conflicted about the band's promotional (but very tasteful) use of nudity, that is actually a genius move. The next step for the Dream Pop electro duo would be to finally show in photo or video the face and boy of Joel Ford, the second half of the project, that so far has been kept away from the cameras.
Ejecta meets our expectations with nude video for "Eleanor Lye" + tours with Sleigh Bells

Oscar Wilde's quote "I can resist anything but temptations" can be applied both to Ejecta's new video for single "Eleanor Lye" (will the nudity "convince" you to watch it?) and... to this post's title. But hey, we think we earned the right to use that cheapish headline, because we totally predicted this kind of unveiling in our previous post about the Brooklyn duo, who famously promoted their debut LP through a series of au naturel pictures of lead singer Leanne Macomber advertised/posted on Pitchfork. Ok, we'll admit it, wasn't that hard to guess. But we are truly wondering how well this promotional idea is working for the band, and how much is actually distracting people (dudes in particular) from their music. For example - as you can see from this post - we are completely distracted. Ejecta is currently touring with Sleigh Bells. Check out the new video here (you may not want to watch it if you are in a public place).
Nude lady led, electro pop band Ejecta announces debut release

Ejecta is the electro-pop project of Joel Ford and Neon Indian's Leanne Macomber, who "gives weight" to the band's promotional campaign by appearing au naturel on... every single band picture passed to the press. What about Joel - you ask? He's there somewhere, but he has the gift of invisibility.
Single "It's Only Love" (streaming) showcases ethereal and well crafted electro-pop, but since all we can think about right now is Leanne's naked body, we decided to suspend judgement about this band until we see how they dress - if they do. We won't let Ejecta trick us into saying they are the best band in NYC just because we are enjoying their singer's nude pictures! This being said, a video or live performance in line with this visual aesthetics might just be enough to corrupt us into a stellar review - looking forward to both!
Ejecta will celebrate the release of their debut album, 'Dominae' (out November 19 on Driftless Recordings), with a show at Glasslands on November 23.with Vulgar Fashion and Brooklyn Future Punx, along with a DJ set from Caroline Polachek of Chairlift.
We added this song to The Deli's playlist of electronic songs by emerging NYC artists - check it out!
